I am proud to report that The Little Writers Workshop this past weekend was a success! We had 14 young people ages 7 -12 who wanted to know what it takes to make a good story. They were engaged during the instruction and then went to work on their own stories.We even had a surprise guest for our little ones……Shiloh Sanders, the author of “Shiloh’s Prayer,” which she published at the tender age of 7.  I had a great time leading the instruction, but I must send special thank yous to our other volunteer instructors Ashley Foxx (“Kesha Cane and Her Very Sweet Tooth“) and Angela Kay Austin (“Run for Freedom” and “Melodee”). Both are published authors and are very good at what they do. I also want to thank Gwendolyn Woods director of the Ira Samelson Boys and Girls Club for allowing us to use their wonderful facility and artist and producer Chris Franchesci for helping with check-in. We definitely couldn’t have done this without our sponsor the Tri-State Defender and the generosity of Kroger.  A big thank you to them as well.

Once again, thank you to Women.Identity.Purpose (W.I.P.) for sponsoring the attendance of five girls from Caldwell-Guthrie Elementary. It truly does take a village and I’m glad that I could be a part of it.

I’m proud of each one of these young people and grateful to their parents for seeing the value in them attending my workshop. I’m excited to see what these little writers will do in the future!
